Obi, speaking in Onitsha on Thursday, acknowledged the Court's adherence to legal deadlines and expressed respect for the Court's opinions and rulings, but disagreed with the rationale and Final conclusion of the judgment.
He declared his intention, as a presidential candidate and on behalf of the Labor Party, to immediately challenge the judgment through the appeal process, as permitted by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Emphasizing that the Court is not the final authority on the matter, Obi emphasized that the responsibility now rests with the Supreme Court, in which he expressed his confidence.
He called on Nigerians to maintain focus, determination and commitment to peace processes, stressing the importance of maintaining the rule of law.
He made it clear that the case had not yet reached its logical conclusion and revealed that his legal team received strong instructions to appeal the Court's decision.
Also, He has expressed unwavering determination in the pursuit of justice, not only for himself but also for countless supporters across the country whom he believes the electoral mandate has been overridden by the independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) and unjustly obstructed.
Obi emphasizes the central role of strong national institutions and public confidence in them for a prosperous democracy.
He pointed out that electoral disputes could be greatly reduced if INEC carried out its statutory functions in a transparent and fair manner.
However, when these agencies fail, as he said INEC in this case, the judiciary becomes an obligatory recourse.
Finally, Obi expressed gratitude to all Nigerians who supported his campaign for a newly established Nigeria based on the principles of equity, justice, the rule of law, peace, prosperity, integration, sustainable growth and development.
