The alleged murderer of DPO of Rivers is arrested

Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested one of the suspected persons  involved in the killing and beheading of a Divisional Police Officer of Ahoada Division in the local government area Ahoada East, Mr. Bako Angbashim, Superintendent of Police .

Meanwhile, ethnic Ogoni people from Rivers State, where Angbahim served before being redeployed to Ahoada,  said it was not they who killed the  five members of Angbahim's family.

It will be recalled that Angbahim and his wife's family of four children were allegedly killed by criminals, which forced the murdered DPO to turn evil in the line of duty.

But the Ogonis, in a statement yesterday in Port Harcourt by the Ogoni People's Assembly, OPA, said the slain DPO did not lose his family members in Ogoni land as been insinuated.

Head of OPA, Rev. Probel Williams, said the deceased DPO had a very good and cordial relationship with the people of Ogoni when he was the DPO of Bori, Khana LGA, adding that his family members would not be kill in the area.

Williams said the support given to the deceased contributed to his success in fighting crime, saying his presence brought sanity and restored security to the area.

However, the state police  said they have arrested one of the people involved in Angbahim's murder.

The youths  arrested the suspect and attempted to execute him before he was rescued and arrested by police.

The Command's Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the development, said the suspect was apprehended by youths and was about to be executed before the police arrived to resist the action.
