In an unexpected turn of events, former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president, Amaju Pinnick, recently stirred up controversy by shedding light on Afrobeat sensation Davido's failure to fulfill his commitment to perform at a high-profile event, despite a hefty payment of $94,600.
Pinnick chose the 19th edition of the Warri Again event as the platform to make these revelations.
During his candid disclosure, he revealed that the event organizers had gone the extra mile, arranging for a private jet at a cost of $18,000 to ensure Davido's presence. Unfortunately, the highly anticipated appearance never materialized.
In the face of Davido's absence, the organizers made a quick decision to substitute him with another rising artist, Shallipopi.
According to Pinnick, they had made the full payment of $94,600 to Davido on April 6th, in addition to covering the expenses for the private jet.
In a no-nonsense tone, Pinnick emphasized that even though Davido might consider himself a prominent figure, there were entities larger than him in the grand scheme of things.
Pinnick firmly stated that he wasn't joking about this matter.
When Davido engaged in prolonged negotiations and hesitated to honor his commitment, the event organizers had no choice but to explore the talents of Shallipopi as a suitable alternative.
Furthermore, Pinnick used this opportunity to shed light on the wealth of talent present in the industry. He asserted that excessive boasting about one's prominence could lead to surprising outcomes.
Pinnick questioned whether there were individuals more prominent than RMD in the acting industry or comedians bigger than Ali Baba.
He underscored that Warri was home to a multitude of stars, and the indomitable spirit of Warri continued to shine brightly.
